Cracow in Pink: A Photo Walk Full of Colour and Inspiration
My favourite colour is blue. But pink makes me happy. My face turns pink when I get a summer tan. I love cherry blossom season and coral-pink notebooks. Show me anything pink – a flower, a book cover, a door, a ceramic mug, and you can be sure Iâll take a picture. I collect these pink moments because looking at them brings joy, makes me smile, and inspires me.
Several places around the world carry the title of âpink cityâ for different reasons, like Jaipur in India, where a city law dictates the colour of buildings in the old town, or Toulouse in France, with its warm-toned brick facades. Personaly, Iâve crowned Mainz the Pink Queen of the Rhine.
In every city I visit, I look for pink moments: a house, a scarf, a window display. Most of those places wonât be found in any guidebook. Some no longer exist, and some moments will never be repeated. But they live on in photographs and in my memory.
Cracow (KrakĂłw in Polish) isnât my hometown, but itâs one of my favourite cities, and I visit often. Cracow can be many things – historical, cultural, innovative. Everyone sees it differently. Maybe Iâm seeing it through rose-tinted glasses, because ‘my’ Cracow is pink:Â full of energy, optimism, and inspiration.
Thereâs the Be Happy Museum – museum of happiness and illusions, and a Bunny CafĂ©, where you can order a sweet cake with even sweeter jelly on top and go pet a rabbit right after that. A cafĂ© called Space Full of Time (PrzestrzeĆ PeĆna Czasu – now permanently closed) used to have co-working areas, neon signs, a library of self-help books with windows overlooking the hipster streets of Kazimierz. You can enjoy the quiet mornings in the garden observing dew on the flower petals and later try delicious ice-cream while strolling through vintage shops.
Letâs explore Cracow together – one pink detail at a time.
